Peppermint Oil

photo-6 copyI’ll start off the post with a short lil’ story. For Valentine’s Day Chad bought me peppermint oil (blink, blink…)

Yep, 1 fluid ounce of peppermint oil.

Not chocolate, teddy bears, or jewelry (although I did get flowers & gummy bears!)… peppermint oil. It was one of those “thank me later” gifts. He went on to explain to me how this particular essential oil can be used for headaches and sore muscles (ding, ding, found me a winner!)

I get headaches so freaking often that I’m willing to try anything! Really anything, people. About a month ago I had my first ocular migraine and actually went blind in one eye for about 30 minutes. (MOST TERRIFYING MOMENT OF MY LIFE — please share your experiences with these if you’ve had one!)

Now I’m not saying peppermint oil is going to prevent headaches or migraines from occurring but it definitely helps alleviate the pain and tension after one has begun. I’m super careful not to pop too many ibuprofens these days because that caused me to develop a stomach ulcer in the past  (#MoreIssuesThanVogue). So basically I’m all for trying natural remedies to help with my headaches. I’ve also been using peppermint oil on my sore muscles / feet after a long day of work.

Directions: For headaches, mix 1-2 drops with a moisturizer and rub across your temples and forehead. For sore muscles, mix 2-4 drops (depending on how big the area is) with a moisturizer and rub into the muscle. *Make sure not to touch your eyes after rubbing!*

According to this article, peppermint oil can also be used for indigestion, colds, stress, and for energy!

Anyone else use peppermint oil? Do you love it?!
