What I Wore For Our Engagement Photos

engagement photos - neutral outfits

Happy Friday! If you missed our engagement photos you can check them all out here! We are using Ashley Sara Photography for our big day and she also worked her magic for these!

There’s a lot going on in this post so I’m going to keep this intro short but I linked up everything I wore for these pictures. Some items are low in stock so I also added similar options at comparable or lesser price points!

I wanted to keep our outfits pretty casual to match the relaxed vibe of our engagement shoot and I think it all worked out nicely! I’m not gonna lie, it’s more complicated than you’d think trying to pick out a guy’s outfit to compliment *but NOT match* your own!

Josh’s style is very basic so it wouldn’t have been fitting to try to get him to wear anything other than solids. He and his friends are all obsessed with the brand BYLT so I recommend checking them out. He’s wearing BYLT tops in all of these photos with a pair of Revtown’s Sharp denim.

At the very end of this post I’m also sharing the key beauty products I use when I need my makeup and hair to last! Shout out to my main hair gal, Kayla at Studio G, for curling my hair for our engagement session! She nails it every time and I knew I couldn’t trust myself to get it right.

GOOD AMERICAN GOOD CURVE RIPPED SKINNY JEANS – These jeans were the perfect length to wear with the black booties I have on and I got my true size. It was my first time trying Good American and I am definitely a fan. They’re comfortable, flattering, and this off-black color is the perfect to give a nice contrast between stark black shoes and your jeans. I am not a fan of the one piece shoe/pant illusion. More similar options here and here.

JEFFREY CAMPBELL BOOTIES – I am so glad I snagged these during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale because they’re my dream bootie. I love how the sock boot style and how they hug my ankles so snugly. They work perfectly with a boot cut or wide leg denim. They’re sadly low stock but you can find similar here, here, here, and here.

GREY CARDIGAN – You never know how an outfit is going to photograph so I went with one form-fitting outfit and then used this cardigan for my looser, more flowy look. It is super affordable, not itchy, and comes in tons of colors!

RACERBACK BODYSUIT – I wanted to be able to show some shoulder skin for contrast in the photos so I paired this sleeveless bodysuit underneath the cardigan. Some similar options here, here, and here.

MINI GOLD HOOPS – Love me some hoops but didn’t want to overdo it with the size so went with a pair from this set!

BLACK FEDORA HAT – Honestly, not sure what possessed me to grab this because I’m not a big hat girl. But I felt like it added something extra to look at in the outfit. We ended up using it more as a prop than anything.

RAG & BONE HIGH RISE CIGARETTE JEANS – This color “Dusty Trail” is completely out of stock everywhere I looked but fortunately they come in other amazing washes like this Black Sage. I know these are on the more expensive side but if there’s one thing I don’t sweat over investing in is good denim. Some similar but more affordable options here, here, and here.

HENLEY BODYSUIT – I ended up going with a ribbed bodysuit to add some texture for this look. This one from Aritizia is the one I’m wearing in the photos but you can shop some similar options here, here, here, and here.

TAN SUEDE BOOTIES – Also in love with the color of these booties. For some reason I find it difficult to find ones that aren’t too yellow, orange, or pink.

WHITE SNEAKERS – I switched into these for the basketball court photos! I always recommend sizing up a half size in Steve Madden.

ANIMAL PRINT BOOTIES – I put these in my bag for the shoot last minute just thinking maybe I’d pair them with the hat to pull the blacks together in the outfit. I think I only have them on in a few photos but better to have options than not!

MINI GOLD HOOPS – I have this set of 3 different sized hoops!

MAC PRO LONGWEAR FOUNDATION – This is my go-to foundation for days when I need it to last (i.e. weddings, these photos, etc). It’s full coverage but not cakey or drying. I wear the color NC30.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY FILMSTAR – I love contouring with this duo for special occasions or for “going out” nights.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY LIP CHEAT – I use a lot of drugstore or cheaper brands for lipliners but I can’t deny that this one is the best! And I can count on it to last.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY PILLOW TALK LIPSTICK – I didn’t want to wear anything too bold so went with this perfect all-around color in the original Nude Pink.

BAREMINERALS BLUSH – When I want some extra depth I’ll use this blush in the color “Blurred Buff”.

NEUTRAL EYESHADOW PALETTE – This is the exact one I used!

KVD TATTOO EYELINER – I love using this for a precise mini wing without any smudge!

PAUL MITCHELL FLEXIBLE STYLE CLEAN FINISHING SPRAYKayla recommended this hairspray for a nice hold without the crunch!
